This information session includes a preview of the Center for Green Schools’ 2025 State of the Schools Report as well as information about an opportunity to access energy efficient IAQ training for K-12 School Staff.

Join Green Building Alliance and USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council) Center for Green Schools to learn about an opportunity to gain training in energy efficient indoor air quality planning for your school. At this free information session, you’ll gain insight into the current state of schools and hear about an opportunity to attend a workshop focused on PreK-12 energy-efficient, indoor air quality (IAQ) planning. You will also have the chance to provide your feedback so future workshops can be curated specifically to your needs.

This virtual information session will be hosted on two different days and times, so you can attend the one that works best for you!

About our Speakers

Anisa Heming, Director, Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council, will provide an overview of the 2025 State of Schools report.

The State of Schools report provides an overview of the scale of PreK-12 education facility infrastructure in the U.S. and provides an analysis of recent years’ investment in this infrastructure. The findings are presented nationally and individually by state. The analysis finds a national funding gap of $85 billion each year for elementary and secondary public school buildings and grounds. The report concludes with five key strategies to reduce the investment gap and improve public school facilities. Companion state profiles are included (as separate downloads) that examine in more depth each state’s elementary and secondary public school facilities.

Medea Villere, Regional Program Manager, Center for Green Schools at the U.S. Green Building Council, will discuss the Center for Green Schools’ current Energy Efficient Indoor Air Quality – Professional Development Program.

This program provides free locally relevant education and peer-to-peer connections to K-12 school districts on Energy Efficient Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) management. This can include in-person workshops, virtual trainings, fellowships, funding opportunities, and resources, including their K-12 School Energy Efficient Indoor Air Quality Management Toolkit and School IAQ Factsheets. Programming is designed for district-level staff in facilities, operations, and environmental health, finance, sustainability, IAQ, and energy management.
