Capital Planning Crash Course

Join Green Building Alliance and partners for a morning workshop on using deferred maintenance as a catalyst to improve building performance, strengthen resilience, and make more strategic capital planning decisions.

Designed for building owners, operators, and decision makers, this session and interactive workshop will explore how energy audits and facility condition assessments can serve as powerful tools for identifying deferred maintenance and uncovering energy efficiency opportunities.

Together with their peers, participants will learn how gathering and managing information about building systems, equipment, and facility conditions can help owners and operators move beyond reactive maintenance and toward informed investment strategies that align with performance goals.

The morning will begin over breakfast with introductory presentations connecting the dots between facility conditions, energy performance, resilience, and capital planning.

After a short break, participants will work collaboratively to review case studies examining challenges and considering occupant needs associated with various use types, while planning for energy-saving strategies and improvement opportunities. Participants will leave with a blueprint for improving building performance and resilience during capital planning.

Participants Will

  1. Explore how energy audits and facility condition assessments can be useful in identifying opportunities for building improvements

  2. Share strategies and lessons learned for successful auditing

  3. Learn more about the relationship between facility conditions, energy performance, resilience, and capital planning

  4. Build a blueprint for improving building performance and resilience during capital planning
