LEED v5 Breakfast Briefing 4 of 5: Materials & Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Project Priorities

Join Green Building Alliance in exploring LEED v5! In this in-person session, we will explore what is new (and what remains the same) in the LEED credit categories of Materials & Resources, Indoor Environmental Quality, and Project Priorities. We will also hear industry perspectives and discuss reactions from event attendees. Some major changes to these categories include:

– A requirement for quantifying and assessing embodied carbon

– A new and seemingly more straightforward credit for Product and Material selection, prioritizing Climate Health, Human Health, Ecosystem health, Social Health and Equity, and Circular Economy

– A new credit for Occupant Experience that adds options for Biophilic Design to previous strategies for Lighting, Daylight and Views, Thermal Comfort, and Acoustics

– The addition of an Accessibility and Inclusion credit and a Resilient Spaces credit

– A new take on regional priorities and exemplary performance

GBA VP of Education Leslie Montgomery will provide a high-level summary of the rating system’s updates in these categories, and participants can discuss their observations as they relate to the broader industry.

Attendees will

– Gain insight into the latest evolution of the LEED rating system and the U.S. Green Building Council’s approach to market transformation

– Better understand what LEED’s new prerequisites and credits might mean for project owners and project teams

– Analyze how the newest version of the rating system aligns with broader trends in the green building industry (globally and locally)

– Learn about the three main priorities of LEED v5 and how they show up in credits: Decarbonization, Quality of Life, and Ecological Conservation & Restoration

This session is eligible for 1.5 AIA or self-reported GBCI credits
