Women of Carbon: Documentary Screening & Panel Discussion

Presented in partnership with Carbon Leadership Forum (CLF) and Green Building Alliance

Join CLF Pittsburgh and Green Building Alliance for an energizing evening that spotlights the women transforming the built environment through carbon leadership. We’ll begin with a screening of Women of Carbon, a visually stunning and deeply moving documentary that showcases women across the globe who are redefining our relationship with carbon. From mass timber innovations and carbon-storing materials to policy advocacy and community-driven design, these leaders are proving that climate solutions are not only possible–they’re already happening.

The film features powerful stories from architects, engineers, scientists, and activists who are pioneering carbon-negative technologies, reimagining building materials, and reshaping the future of construction. Whether it’s reengineering waste into valuable chemicals or designing buildings that absorb carbon, their work is bold, scalable, and deeply rooted in justice.

A panel discussion with Pittsburgh-based women who are leading the charge locally will follow the screening. These carbon champions will share perspectives on embodied carbon, policy opportunities, and how our region’s rich stock of existing buildings presents a unique chance to reduce emissions through reuse and retrofit. Come ready with your questions, ideas, and curiosity–this is a space for dialogue, inspiration, and action.

What to Expect:

– A screening of Women of Carbon

A lively panel discussion with local carbon leaders

– Opportunities to connect with others passionate about climate and the built environment

– A popcorn bar and drinks to keep the conversation flowing

This event is ideal for professionals in architecture, engineering, construction, sustainability, and policy–as well as students, advocates, and anyone curious about how women are shaping a low-carbon future.
