We spoke with one of our Lifetime Members, Zach Huth, recently about his Lifetime Membership and what it means to him!
Zach is a member of GBA’s Board, and was an Emerging Professional when he began his involvement with Green Building Alliance. He describes himself as an entrepreneur and girl dad, who is no stranger to hard work! In 2010, he ventured out on his own and created Huth Technologies, LLC, a recruiting and contract resource firm that specializes in placing engineers, project managers, business operations professionals, and executive management with manufacturing, construction, and energy companies. You can learn more about Zach on our Board page!
What made you initially join GBA as a member?
I love sustainability and lowering the eco footprint is a passion of mine; as well as reuse, repurposing, and upcycling.
Over the years, you became a big supporter of GBA’s Summer Soiree, which was a big networking event for the Emerging Professionals and other GBA members. Do you have a favorite memory from the Summer Soiree or any other GBA events?
I loved when we held the event at Chatham’s Eden Hall farm. That was my favorite summer soiree.

When/how did the opportunity arise for you to join the board of directors of GBA?
I was very active in the construction community and brought in expertise in workforce development that the board had a need for.
How did your perspective of the organization change after participating on the board of directors?
I have a new appreciation for non profits and the challenges that exist when faced with new leadership, pandemics, and funding issues.

A Lifetime Membership is a big commitment. What inspired you to become a Lifetime Member of GBA?
My passion for sustainability and the impact GBA has on the region. I feel GBA is in a great position to take sustainable building practices to the next level and continue to make Pittsburgh a global leader in green building and sustainability.
What would you say to someone looking for ways to get involved with GBA?
I would say be active in the events, putting the time in after hours is where you will see the most gain. Seeing the vision come to life one project at time is priceless.
