Erie 2030 District

The Erie 2030 District is a private-public collaborative working together to create a groundbreaking high-performance business district.

A city in the midst of robust revitalization, Erie, Pa., is making significant investments in repopulating offices and storefronts, improving housing, and reducing blight. The city is also disproportionately affected by climate change. It is among the top 10 fastest-warming US cities, and evolving weather patterns are impacting regional natural assets such as Presque Isle, which is central to the city’s thriving tourism industry.

In 2019, Green Building Alliance launched the Erie 2030 District to support business owners, nonprofits, and the municipality in pursuing renovations and development that prioritizes sustainability, and to come alongside property owners to assist them in improving the energy and water efficiency and resilience of their buildings. Today, the Erie 2030 District includes 20 Property Partners and counting, spanning public and private organizations that make up over 170 buildings.
