Green Building Professional Accreditations

Growing resumés to meet the needs of a growing industry.

Regardless of field or career path, a professional credential in green buildings can provide a much-needed edge in today’s competitive job market.

Green building professionals understand synergies among professions, building systems, the environment, opportunities for economic development, and occupant wellbeing. While anyone can benefit from green building credentials, they can be especially useful for professionals in architecture, construction, facilities management, engineering, city planning, real estate, and education.

LEED Credentials

Professionals who are familiar with green building standards and practices can seek various types of accreditations from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Living Future Accreditation

Managed by the International Living Future Institute, this credential can be applied to various fields in the building industry.

WELL Accredited Professional

Anyone with a sophisticated understanding of the WELL Building Standard can become a WELL Accredited Professional.

GPRO (Green Professional Training)

The Urban Green Council oversees this certification that assesses the knowledge of building and facilities management professionals and their use of high-performance construction and maintenance practices.

Just Communities AP

Just Communities Accredited Professionals (APs) demonstrate a commitment to creating sustainable, equitable neighborhoods that meet the Just Communities Certified standard.

BPI Certified Professional

Designed for specialists in residential buildings, the BPI certification designates professionals certified to inspect homes for opportunities to save energy.

Green Advantage Environmental Certification

This credential designates professionals certified to analyze green construction processes.

Certified HERS Rater

HERS raters evaluate homes to determine their adherence to ENERGY STAR guidelines and inspect for energy efficiency.

Passive House Professional Credentials

Through the Passive House Institute, designers, builders, architects, and other industry professionals are trained and evaluated on their adherence to the standards.
