Uptown EcoInnovation District

Serving as chair of the infrastructure sub-committee for this project, GBA contributed to the revitalization of Oakland in this groundbreaking project. 

The EcoInnovation District is an opportunity to utilize the ways in which redevelopment can improve the environment, support the needs of existing residents, and expand entrepreneurship and job growth. 

Green Building Alliance chaired the infrastructure sub-committee for the Uptown and Oakland EcoInnovation District task force. The initiative combines the goals of both EcoDistricts and Innovation Districts to positively transform communities across the country. GBA’s team focused on stormwater, energy, waste, and recycling, and helped craft zoning code and mechanisms to track progress over time.
